Fairview (2-0) at Stewart County (1-1), 7 p.m. Friday*
It took two days and a lot of travelling, but the Fairview Yellowjackets kept their season spotless in Week 2 against Creek Wood.
Lightning postponed the game Friday night until Saturday, but the delay did not deter the Yellowjackets’ rushing attack.
Led by Jake Beathard (168 rushing yards, two TDs), Fairview ran for 315 yards on 40 attempts as a team while its defense gave up just 13 points and 233 total yards in the 38-13 drumming.
The Yellowjackets will be looking to continue their success on the ground Friday when they travel to take on the Stewart County Rebels.
Stewart County split its first two games on the road this season. It was outscored by its opponents 52-35.
In last season’s matchup, Beathard torched the Rebels for 232 yards and two touchdowns on the ground in Fairview’s 56-33 win. The Yellowjackets ran for 355 yards as a team in that game.
The next installment of Fairview against Stewart County is set to kick off Friday at 7 p.m.
Father Ryan (2-0) at McCallie (1-1), 7 p.m. Friday
First-year Father Ryan head coach Brian Rector seems to like where he is at so far with the Fightin’ Irish.
After dismantling Hillwood in Week 1, the Irish came back last week to beat Northeast 33-16 on Saturday night after the game was postponed at halftime on Friday due to lightning.
Rector’s team will hope to continue its success that has led them to outscore opponents 81-22 into their Week 3 matchup with McCallie.
The Blue Tornado offer a much tougher opponent than the Irish faced in their first two contests. After losing to Peachtree Ridge (Georgia) in Week 1, McCallie bounced back to throttle Blackman 49-10 last week.
The Irish are hoping their head coach has a little more magic up his sleeve to keep his undefeated run at Father Ryan going, at least for another week.
