UPDATE: 7/3 : Arthur now named a Cat 1 Hurricane. Watches and Warnings spread from North Carolina up East Coast.
Update 7/2: Tropical Storm Arthur is first named storm of year in Atlantic
- Arthur is still spinning off the Florida coast, and is expected to become a hurricane by Thursday.
- A hurricane watch has been posted for parts of eastern North Carolina, including most of the Outer Banks.
- Tropical storm watches include Wilmington, North Carolina, Myrtle Beach, South Carolina and Daytona Beach, Florida.
- Peak impact in the Carolinas will be Thursday into Friday.
7/1 :As Tropical Depression One forms just off the Bahama coast, tropical storm watches are already being issued for Florida. If named, Arthur could cause holiday havoc for most of the East Coast through Sunday. Rains of 3-6 inches and sustained winds of 35 mph are predicted with the storm. The storms in the Midwest are predicted to move on by Wednesday toward the East, and for the rest of the country travel plans should be ok. We suggest you be prepared and monitor the National Weather Service before traveling to the East Coast this weekend.
