phone scammer

The Williamson County Sheriff’s Office is alerting county residents about a new jury duty scam involving prepaid cards and large sums of money.

A man is making telephone calls to residents claiming to be Lt. Jim Handy from the Williamson County Sheriff’s Office. He tells them they have not reported for jury duty and will be arrested unless they buy a prepaid card and load it with money or get a cashier’s check and meet him at the courthouse.

These phone calls are part of a scam. The Williamson County Sheriff’s Office will never call anyone and ask for money for missing jury duty. If you receive a phone call that you believe is a jury duty scam, hang up and report it to the WCSO at 615-790-5550.
