WCSO Sets Sobriety Checkpoints for July 4th Holiday

sobriety checkpoint ahead sheriff

The Williamson County Sheriff’s Office will be conducting sobriety roadside safety checkpoints in the evening hours on these dates:

Thursday, July 4, 2019 8 p.m. to 10 p.m. Hwy 96E @ 840

Friday, July 5, 2019 7 p.m. to 9 p.m. Wilson Pike

Saturday, July 6, 2019 7 p.m. to 9 p.m. Goose Creek Bypass

The WCSO wants you to have a safe and happy Fourth of July holiday weekend, so we are urging everyone to drive responsibly. If you are out celebrating with alcohol, use a designated driver. We also encourage patience when you drive because there will be more traffic during the holiday period and people will be in a rush to get to their destinations. And, when you drive or ride, always use your seatbelt even if you are traveling a short distance.

And, this reminder: the Hands-Free Tennessee law goes into effect Monday, July 1, 2019. It will be illegal for a driver to hold a cell phone or mobile device or text. For more information on the new law: https://handsfreetn.com/

Extra WCSO deputies will also be on patrol during the holiday weekend working to get impaired and distracted drivers off the roads.

These traffic enforcement efforts are paid for with grant money from the Tennessee Highway Safety Office.

STATE LAW REQUIRES THESE TIMES AND LOCATIONS BE RELEASED TO THE PUBLIC.
