Williamson County teachers and classified employees will receive a pay raise following the County Commission’s approval of the 2019-20 operational school budget.
The Commission voted in favor of the approximately $386 million operational budget at its July 8 meeting. As a result, first-year teachers will receive a $2,650 salary increase which will boost the starting rate to approximately $40,150 per year. In addition, all teachers and classified employees will receive a minimum three percent raise.
“We appreciate the support we’ve had from the County Commission and its consideration for our teachers,” said WCS Superintendent Jason Golden. “I want to thank our Board members for their vision on this budget and the Commission for finding a way to fund it. This is a good step toward paying our professionals a living income. We have more work to do over the next few years and will keep this effort going.”
In addition, the County Commission voted to reduce the funding for the Williamson County Board of Education 2019-20 Capital Needs fund from the proposed $13,254,951 to $10 million. These funds will be used for capital projects required to maintain schools.
