WCS School Board Names Golden Superintendent

Jason Golden Williamson County Schools

Jason Golden has been named the Superintendent of Williamson County Schools. The Williamson County Board of Education voted unanimously to enter into a four-year contract with Golden during its June 17, 2019, regular meeting.

Golden had been serving as the interim since May 21, 2019, and he previously served in a similar role in the spring of 2018.

“I am encouraged by the School Board’s decision. It affirms what we as a team have been working toward,” said Golden. “Students come first in Williamson County, and we will continue to work toward excellence in everything we do as we prepare our students for the future.”

Golden began his work in WCS in April of 2006 serving as the school district’s attorney. He was promoted to Chief Operating Officer and General Counsel in January of 2010 and promoted to Deputy Superintendent and General Counsel in July of 2012.

“The Board has accomplished what we set out to do and that was to provide a smooth leadership transition for our schools and the community,” said Board Chairman Gary Anderson. “Based on the unanimous vote and a four-year contract, the Board had demonstrated its confidence in Jason’s leadership abilities. Jason is highly respected and has a proven track record working with the Board, staff, elected officials and the greater Williamson County community. He will continue to work diligently to keep WCS a progressive school district.”

The contract takes effect on June 18, 2019.
