WCS Recovered from Water Line Break

Late Thursday afternoon, a hot water line break occurred in the Williamson County Schools district server room at their central office, located in the Williamson County Government Administrative Complex. The area experienced water damage, which affected some operations of the school district. The incident knocked out phone and internet service to the district.

Thankfully, everything is back to usual today for students and staff.

“A water line froze causing it to break,” said Williamson County Property Manager Keith Feinstein. “We cut off water to the lines so, as of right now, there is no water running through the pipes in the server room.”

Crews worked through the night to repair the damage, and services were restored before 5 a.m. Friday.

“We have an incredible IT department,” said Superintendent Dr. Mike Looney.  “They, along with our AT&T and Presidio partners, worked tirelessly to fix the problem and restore service to all WCS campuses. I am proud of their hard work.”

Feinstein says he will continue to investigate exactly where the freeze took place. While many have noted that water pipes and servers do not belong in the same room, Feinstein says the school district’s hands were tied as the county government office is an older building with limited space.

Below is a video that was taken inside the server room shortly after the water line broke.
