August 26, 2025 – Beginning this year, Williamson County Schools will recalculate the Grade Point Averages (GPAs) of high school students who have transferred to WCS as well as future transfer students.
Instead of using the transfer GPA as is, regardless of whether it is weighted or unweighted, the WCS weighted scale will be used. This decision was made after an evaluation with input from schools.
This consistent and equitable process will ensure alignment with the district’s weighted GPA scale and support fair academic recognition and opportunities after high school.
Students who have transferred into the district will receive their updated transcript from their school counselors by the end of September. Students may request a meeting with counseling staff to review the recalculated GPA.
If a student of family disagrees with recalculated GPA, they may send a message explaining the appeal request to the school principal and counselor within 10 school days of notification.
