WCS Hosts Two Community Zoning Meetings

Community Zoning Meetings

From WCS inFocus

Williamson County Schools will host two community zoning meetings to discuss rezoning proposals for the newest elementary school and others.

The new elementary school on Gosey Hill Road is scheduled to open with the 2019-20 school year. For the first year, only Oak View Elementary students will attend. Those students will be housed in the Oak View building while construction on the new facility is completed. In its second year, the new school will bring in students from College Grove and Trinity elementary schools.

To relieve overcrowding at Mill Creek Elementary, the district is proposing to rezone students from Mill Creek Elementary to Nolensville Elementary.

Due to Longview Elementary being over-capacity, the district is proposing to rezone future developments from Longview Elementary to Heritage and Chapman’s Retreat elementary schools.

“These sessions are informal ones where families may come and go,” said WCS Deputy Superintendent Jason Golden. “Families may attend either of the sessions.”

A synopsis of the plans will be available at the sessions, and families may review the plans with staff members.

On Tuesday, January 29, a meeting will be held in the Oak View Elementary cafeteria at 6:30 p.m. The meeting on Thursday, January 31, will be in the Nolensville Elementary cafeteria beginning at 6 p.m.

These meetings are open the public. Both meetings will cover the same topics.
