Among the 2016 National Merit Scholarship Semifinalists are 31 Williamson County high schoolers.
Students’ high scores on the Preliminary SAT/National Merit Scholarship Qualifying Test earned them their places among the 16,000 total Semifinalists. The students will have the opportunity to compete for National Merit Scholarships.
To proceed to the Finalist category, Semifinalists and their high schools must submit a detailed scholarship application detailing information about the students’ academic records, participation in school and community activities, demonstrated leadership abilities, employment, and honors recieved.
Students will be notified in February if they’ve advanced to the Finalist level.
