WCS Athletes Have Successful 2018 Spring Fling

Students from five WCS high schools claimed state championships at this year’s Tennessee Secondary School Athletic Association’s (TSSAA) Spring Fling tournament.

The Spring Fling is an Olympic-style tournament for baseball, softball, track and field, tennis and soccer. This year, the tournament was held May 22-25 in Rutherford County.

Below are the students and teams who earned state championships:

  • Girls Track and Field, Shot Put and Discus, Division I Large: Katherine Coffey, Brentwood High
  • Boys Track and Field; High Jump and Decathalon; Division I Large: Jett Kinder, Brentwood High
  • Girls Tennis, Doubles, Division I Large: Evie Calhoun and Georgia Fischer, Brentwood High
  • Girls Tennis, Team, Division I Large: Brentwood High
  • Boys Track and Field, Team, Division I Large: Brentwood High
  • Girls Track and Field, Long Jump and Outdoor Pentathalon, Division I Large: Avery McMullen, Centennial High
  • Girls Track and Field, High Jump, Division I Small: Kaylee Bartee, Fairview High
  • Girls Track and Field, 3200m Run, Division I Large: Gigi Maddox, Page High
  • Boys Tennis, Team, Division I Large: Ravenwood High
