Local Teen Fighting Cancer Plans “Promposal” from Hospital

Raymond Cruz

Despite being diagnosed with cancer earlier this year, 16-year-old Raymond Cruz is all smiles as he partakes in a teenage ritual – asking a girl to prom. The junior at Centennial High is currently undergoing chemotherapy and while in the hospital, arranged a “promposal.”

“Hi everyone! Today  I finally finished my 5 day chemo week!! I always hate 5 day chemo weeks but today ended in the best way. I asked Maddie to go to prom with me. She has stuck by my side since I got diagnosed and I know she’ll be here till the end! I made up the sign! I think it was pretty clever! Thanks for the constant prayers from everyone it helped me fight this whole week,” Ray posted on The Raymond Cruz Family Cancer Facebook page

Ray was diagnosed with cancer in February and the community has come out in full force to support him. A GoFundMe page has been set-up and as of the writing of this story, the GoFundMe page has already generated $21,295 in donations, well surpassing their $10,000 goal.

The family will keep everyone updated on Cruz’s journey on the Raymond Cruz Family-Cancer Update Facebook Page and the upcoming fundraising event for the family.
