Walker Creek First Holiday Season Was Success in Franklin

The family-owned candy company, Walker Creek Confections, opened in the summer of 2016 at The Factory in Franklin.

Husband and wife team Bruce Mott and Cathy McCook live in Dekalb County, but their flagship store is in Watertown just east of Nashville.

After working as a contractor for 35 years, Bruce began building a candy business. First, he started making caramels for friends and family but word spread quickly of his sweet confections and soon they moved from their home kitchen to a full commercial operation.  Their Watertown store opened five years ago.

Expanding from one store to now three- Watertown, East Nashville and The Factory- the candy line has also expanded from caramels to include Southern pecan pralines.

Coming to The Factory in Franklin was in keeping with their historic beginnings. The couple’s initial launch was in a historic building in Watertown and they felt as if The Factory in Franklin also offered the same historic feeling.

“Last summer we had the opportunity to open a store in The Factory at Franklin. We felt that it would be a great fit for our company. Our home kitchen and store are located in Watertown in a historic building right off of the square. We initially opened that store to accommodate the customers who were coming to Watertown to find us. We cook all of our candy in the Watertown kitchen weekly and bring our inventory to the Franklin store along with some of our other Tennessee made favorites,” said Cathy McCook.

After just six months in The Factory, Walker Creek experienced their first holiday season in Williamson County and was overwhelmed with the reception to their candy.

“We were amazed at the business we had during the holidays. It was so much fun to meet new customers and to introduce them to our confections and other products. We always offer samples and like to introduce new seasonal flavors of our caramels. We use local flavorings as much as possible,” McCook said.

“During the holidays, our sampler tin was a big hit, offering a taste of each of our most popular candies. We also offered custom gift boxes that can be curated with your favorite products from our selection.”

Walker Creek is located inside The Factory in Franklin at 230 Franklin Road, Franklin. Hours of operation are Wednesday – Friday 10 am – 5 pm, Saturday 9 am – 5pm, Sunday 11 am – 4 pm.  Follow Walker Creek on Facebook for the latest updates.
