Based on a Twitter tip from Franklin Fire Department, we did some digging. Here’s what you need to know:
Vehicles Affected: Approximately 25,000 model-year 2015 Volkswagen Jetta sedans manufactured between July 11 and Nov. 13, 2014
The Problem: A software glitch could cause the low-beam headlights to turn off when the high-beam headlights are engaged. The light output from the headlights may be insufficient, increasing the risk of a crash.
The Fix: Dealers will update the headlight control module software for free.
What Owners Should Do: Volkswagen will begin notifying owners in January. Owners can call Volkswagen at 800-893-5298 or the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration at 888-327-4236 for more information.
