V-Ball Championships Set for Today
Competition on day two of the TSSAA State Girls’ Volleyball Tournament deflated the field to two teams per bracket on Thursday.
The final round for all five brackets is at MTSU today and when the dust settles each Class will have a 2015 State Champion.

Two local schools, Brentwood in Division I Class AAA and Father Ryan in Division II Class AA, advanced on Thursday while the Franklin Lady Rebels in DI-AAA and the Page Patriots in DI-AA lost in the loser’s bracket of the round robin.
Bruins Ready to Repeat as AAA Champs
Brentwood (51-3, 3-0 in the tournament) is in the finals, after beating Siegel 3-0, with sets of 25-20, 25-21, 25-21, on Thursday afternoon at Blackman High School. The Bruins face Farragut (47-6, 4-1 in the tournament) at 3 p.m. today at MTSU.

Father Ryan-Briarcrest Rematch in DII-AA Final
Father Ryan (39-10, 2-1 in the DII-AA tourney), in the losers bracket final on Thursday afternoon, beat Baylor 3-2 in a match that came down to the wire. Baylor backed the Fighting Irish against the wall, winning the first two sets in the first-to-three match. But Father Ryan fought back, just getting a 25-23 set to make it 1-2. The Irish took the fourth set 25-15 and the fifth 15-12, which is played to 15 instead of 25. Today at 10:30 at MTSU Father Ryan will try to serve some revenge to Briarcrest in the Division II Class AA Championship.

On Thursday afternoon at Siegel High School Sullivan South eliminated the Patriots 3-1 (25-20, 25-23, 12-25, 24-26) in the Class AA losers bracket major final.
After taking the first set, the Patriots just barely lost the second and, after losing the third, were one play away from advancing to the championship game on Friday. Both Page losses in the double-elimination tournament came against Sullivan South.
The Sullivan Rebels play Knoxville Catholic at MTSU at 1:30 p.m. Friday for the Class AA State Championship.
The Patriots, after losing 3-0 to Sullivan South in the winners bracket semifinals on Wednesday, beat Dyersburg 3-1 (25-21, 21-25, 25-17, 25-23) Thursday morning in the losers bracket major semifinals and then a few hours later in the losers bracket minor final bested Signal Mountain 3-1 (25-18, 25-19, 20-25, 25-18).

Farragut beat Franklin in the Class AAA losers bracket major semifinal Thursday morning at Blackman. The Rebels lost 3-0, with sets of 13-25, 17-25 and 25-27. More Prep Sports
