Victim from Nashville Movie Theater Attack Speaks Out

One of the victims from Wednesday’s movie theater attack in Antioch spoke publicly about his gratitude for the Metro Police Department, local EMTs and citizens who helped him and the other victims.

Don Aaron, Metro Nashville Police Public Affairs Manager, introduced him as Steven, but said he was not releasing his last name to protect his privacy.

Steven made a brief statement in a press conference Wednesday afternoon and did not take any questions.

“I am eternally grateful for Metro Police Department. I would ask anyone to pray for his [the suspect’s] family. I am very very grateful that no one else was injured except for the one who perpetrated this,” Steven said.

Steven went on to say that he was thankful for the citizens who helped him and his daughter after they were attacked by the suspect with some sort of pepper spray. Their generosity gave him “more faith in humanity,” he added. In addition to the pepper spray, Steven also suffered a minor laceration from a hatchet/ax type weapon the suspect used.

Don Aaron explained that Steven was giving a statement now in order to maintain his privacy during the investigation.
