UPDATE 12:30 PM – Wilson Pike at Clovercroft Rd is now open. Roadway has been cleared after a train and van collision this morning and deputies have opened the road to traffic.
According to WSMV Wilson Pike at Clovercroft Road is closed due to a multiple injury crash involving a train and a vehicle around 9:30 am Friday.
A vehicle at the crossroad took a hard hit and those inside the vehicle were transported to an area hospital.
The area is expected to be cleared up within the hour according to the Williamson County Emergency Management Agency.
This is the second major train/car collision at this intersection in last few years. Previous was a fedex truck. As a safety professional I find it irresponsible that the crossing would not be fitted with crossing arms instead of total reliance on the train horn indicating approach. How many injuries are needed to prove this train horn as ineffective defense at this location.
