Christina Conrady and Fletcher Daniel, seniors at Battle Ground Academy, have been named Semifinalists in the 2019 National Merit® Scholarship Program, announced Will Kesler, BGA Head of School.
“The distinction of National Merit Semi-finalist represents one of the highest academic achievements a student can earn in high school” said Kesler. “These students have been exemplary in their approach to their studies, and they have had an opportunity to work with an incredible faculty who have challenged and supported them along the way. We are very proud of their accomplishments.”
Conrady and Daniel were among approximately 16,000 students nationwide to be named Semifinalists in the 64th annual National Merit Scholarship Program. Over 1.6 million students from 22,000 high schools entered the SAT/National Merit Scholarship Program by taking the 2017 Preliminary SAT/National Merit Scholarship Qualifying Test. The nationwide pool of Semifinalists represents less than one percent of high school seniors.
These academically talented high school students have an opportunity to continue in the competition for some 7,500 National Merit Scholarships worth more than $31 million that will be offered next spring. Over 90 percent of the Semifinalists are expected to attain Finalist standing, with about half of these receiving a National Merit Scholarship.
