Tumbling, Tennis and Triathlons

The Williamson County Parks and Recreation (WCPR) department offers tumbling, tennis and triathlon training this fall. The winter Tennis League lottery is on Saturday, August 24th at the Franklin Rec Complex. The lottery provides individuals with the opportunity to participate in tennis leagues held at the Indoor Sports Complex from late October through March. The daytime league lottery will be at 9 a.m. and the evening league lottery will be at 11 a.m. You must pre-register at the Indoor Sports Complex between Monday, August 19 – Friday, August 23 and attend the lottery on August 24 in Franklin. Fall Tennis clinics have also been announced. Registration for all Franklin and Brentwood clinics is ongoing at the Indoor Sports Complex in Brentwood or by phone at (615) 370-3471, ext. 2110. To register for clinics at the Longview Recreation Center, call (615) 302-0971, ext. 2210. Clinics start the week of August 12. Adult and junior clinics (age 5 and older) in beginner through advanced skill levels are offered Monday(s) through Saturday(s). Prices vary depending on the duration of clinic. Saturday, September 7 is the Triathlon for young athletes. If you are age 8-12, can swim, bike and run, you should consider entering the second annual Half Pint Triathlon held at the Franklin Rec Complex. You must register by mail and forms can be found at all recreation centers or online at www.wcparksandrec.com under Programs/Half Pint Triathlon. Divisions are divided by age, parents must attend and appropriate swimming and biking equipment is required. There is a full training schedule underway now.

Tumbling and Cheer clinics are being held at Crockett Park and the Franklin Recreation Complex. WCPR will offer a fall session of tumbling for ages 2 to 5 at the Indoor Arena at Crockett Park. The first fall session ($70) is offered on Thursdays, August 12-October 3 or Fridays, August 13-October 4. Tumbling for 2 and 3 year olds (Mommy and Me) will be from 10:30 a.m. to 11:15 a.m., followed by ages 4 and 5 (Parent present) from 11:30 a.m. to 12:15 p.m. Session Two will be Thursdays, October 17-December 5 or Fridays, October 18-December 6 ($70). Students can register for one session or both.

The Rhythm and Spirit program is expanding to include a sixteen-week fall cheer class for ages 5 and 6 at the Franklin Recreation Complex. Divided into two eight-week sessions, the cheer class provides ample time to build skills and learn choreography. Instructors provide individual instruction while promoting good work ethics and positive attitudes. Students learn cheer and dance techniques, new routines and leaps and jumps, all in a fun atmosphere. The cheer class meets on Wednesdays, from 5:15 p.m. to 6:15 p.m. Session One is August 14-October 2 ($70) and Session Two is October 16-December 4 ($70). Students can register for one session or both.
