The holiday season is in the air. On Tuesday evening at Port Royal Park in Spring Hill, so was snow.
The City of Spring Hill celebrated its annual Christmas tree lighting on Tuesday there.
From 4 to 6 p.m., the parks and rec department hosted a variety of holiday-themed activities and entertainment, and of course the lighting of the tree.
Guests enjoyed letter-writing to Santa, free hot cocoa, a petting zoo, performances by local students and live music.
“We are happy to be here celebrating another great Christmas season in Spring Hill,” Mayor Rick Graham said, kicking things off with a welcome and dedication.
After Graham spoke, the Spring Hill Hawks cheerleaders led the crowd in a cheer, Nothen Short performed, the Heritage Middle School Dancers entertained and, of course, the tree was lit with help from the kids.
As predicted, there was snow, compliments of Froggy’s Fog.
This was the second year of what the Spring Hill government hopes is a long-lasting tradition.
It was just the first event in a fun-packed holiday season for Spring Hill. Next up is the Christmas Parade on Saturday at 5 p.m., presented by the Kiwanis Club. It will go down Main Street.
