Duplex Road (S.R. 247) will be closed from east of Hughes Street to the intersection of Miles Johnson Parkway between July 9 and Oct. 12 for bridge construction work. Hughes Street also will be closed July 9-31 for sewer work.
Per the Duplex Road widening project’s traffic control plan, TDOT’s contractor for the project, Eutaw Construction, will shut down Duplex Road, remove the bridge over McCutcheon Creek, excavate for retaining walls, install pilings for the bridge abutments, construct retaining walls, build a new bridge over the creek, place fill material for the bridge approaches, install base stone, and install asphalt pavement and striping on a seven-day per week basis. Signs for detours will be posted in addition to message boards.
