Traffic Alert: Downtown Franklin Road Closures

road closures

Effective Wednesday morning April 11, 2018 from 9am-3pm, the City of Franklin will be constructing pavement in the southern area of central Franklin. Third Avenue South (State Road 96) going out of town will be closed from South Margin Street to the Harpeth River bridge. Detour signs for rerouting onto 1st Avenue South toward Franklin Road and Mack Hatcher will be posted for the return to Murfreesboro Road (State Road 96). This closure is for re-surfacing of Third Avenue South so that a metal plate covering water line repair can be removed. This work should be completed by 3pm on Wednesday April 11, 2018.

Also on Wednesday, April 11 and on Thursday April 12 from 9am-3pm South Margin Street going east and west between Fifth Avenue South/Lewisburg Pike and Third Avenue South will be closed. Local traffic only will be allowed eastbound from Third Avenue South to the O’More College driveway, where South Margin Street will be totally closed. Detour signs will be posted for diversion generally to Church Street. These closures will allow the construction of a raised island and new STOP sign for safety improvements on the westbound approach of South Margin Street to Fifth Avenue South/Lewsiburg Pike. This work should be completed by 3pm on Thursday April 12.

Motorists should plan to take alternate routes in Franklin during the roadwork at these two nearby construction sites.
