Are you looking for a unique spot to go camping, hiking, or generally enjoy the scenery available to us through natural resources? There are a ton of local parks and state parks that are within a five-hour drive of Williamson County.

One of these beautiful places includes one of Georgia’s state parks located in the Blue Ridge Mountains. The park is actually the highest park in the state and overlooks 80-mile vistas. There are many views and activities to keep visitors enthralled for days on end, and they often have events happening regularly throughout the season including guided hikes, group camping activities, and bonfires. They also have four hiking trails that lead visitors through forest areas, alongside the lake, past small waterfalls, and by local wildflowers.
Amenities at the site include a summit visitor’s center known for its views, gift shop, and picnic areas as well as mountaintop cottages, a centralized playground, and campsites sites located in the shade trees.

The park has a small lake that is great for fishing, canoeing, and kayaking and circled by a walking trail that makes for the perfect place to take unique landscape pictures. The site also includes geocaching among the camping and outside activities available. Black Rock Mountain is great for the season due to its high altitude of roughly 3600 feet that allows for a cooler and more enjoyable experience during its open season.

Its season runs from March 16 to December 15 where anyone can visit, but is closed the rest of the year due to the weather and safety hazards that comes with winter months.
