Top Home Design Trends for 2015

As we look to 2016, we want to look back at 2015 top home design trends. We found that neutrals leaned more gray than carmel,colors are much lighter rather than darker and fixtures are turning to gold. Here is our list of the top home design trends of 2015.

Bringing the Outdoors In –We’ve seen this trend for a few year, making our outdoor spaces ones that we could live in with outdoor kitchens, fireplaces, and living spaces outfitted with TVs.We are also started to see more greenery indoors and the use of outdoor furniture indoors.

Metallics and Metals- Gold has become the color of choice for light fixtures and faucets.  Giving a nod to the 70s we are seeing more brass items added throughout the home.

Modern Mid-Century Elements- Heavy traditional furniture is a thing of the past. It’s more about clean lines lending itself to a more modern appeal.  Fabrics of furniture were simple linen not patterned  with lots of white and gray.

Embracing Local Artisans- Design for 2015 and beyond will be about embracing the local artisan.  Filling your home with items that have a story that goes with the product. In addition to locally we are seeing global influences like the moroccan rugs and lambskins.  Its all about finding the right balance of mixing.

Recycling, Repurposing, and Reinventing-  Consumers are choosing to use the things in their home but in a new way.   A coat of paint goes a long way to reinventing an item that way seem outdated or worn out.  By choosing to see our home in a new way, we can update without a big investment.
