While cruise control has been a feature for a long time, speed limiters is a more recent technology that takes it a bit further. This is a monitor and warning system that parents can set for specific mph rates and allows parents to set the maximum speed that the vehicle can travel. Along with monitoring speed, car manufacturers have included ways to track a variety of driving habits beyond including a distance tracker, how safety features are being used, and even tracking things like music playing. The technology allows parents to pull up a report as often as they want.
Advanced Cameras
It started with backup cameras as a nice extra, but these have now expanded to having blindspot cameras and side cameras as well as 360 degree cameras. While this doesn’t take the place of checking yourself, 360 degree cameras can help give both the teen and the parent some extra peace of mind.
Sensors
These include front, side, rear, and lane shift sensors that look for when things are too close to your vehicle or when you’re moving out of a lane. The goal is that you can react sooner to prevent accidents in case something does happen. There’s even some that have their own quick response system to make stopping easier for those times that you don’t see and can’t react in time on your own.
In-Vehicle Roadside and Accident Response System
No matter how much safety technology you have on your car, things can still happen. No matter whose fault the accident is or even the severity of the accident, parents and teens can feel safe knowing that their vehicle is protected by providing roadside assistance. Many include in-vehicle calling without needing a phone, where others offer both in car and out of car service. Either way, you know that when something happens that you don’t have control over, you’re covered.
