Titans Preview Week 1: 2014 Season Starts in Kansas City

The Tennessee Titans (0-0) start off the 2014 regular season on Sunday, Sept. 7 on the road to play the Kansas City Chiefs (0-0). Kickoff is at Arrowhead Stadium and is scheduled for noon CDT.

The Titans head into the season with mixed results, finishing the preseason with a 2-2 record. In last week’s preseason finale at LP Field, they were stuffed by the Minnesota Vikings and lost 19-3. Their two wins came against the Green Bay Packers and Atlanta Falcons. Their second loss was at the hands of the New Orleans Saints.

While the offense has looked decent at certain points, main praise goes to running back Bishop Sanky, it was a chance for the Titans to see if quarterback Jake Locker would be able to carry this team. In three starts, Locker completed 21 of 30 passes for 268 yards, two touchdowns and no interceptions. He did not step on the field during the loss against Minnesota.

The preseason was also Ken Whisenhunt’s first taste as head coach, who became the 17th head coach in franchise history on Jan. 13.

Kansas City flopped to a 1-3 preseason record, and while it really doesn’t mean anything or hurt the team, this is the same Chiefs team that had an 11-5 record and earned a Wild Card playoff berth last season.

Sunday’s game will be televised regionally on CBS, including Nashville affiliate WTVF NewsChannel 5. On the radio, tune into The Titans Radio Network 104.5 The Zone.
