Quarterback Matt Cassel, like the Goodlettsville Little Leaguers, played in the LLWS in Williamsport, Pa., when he was a youngster from Northridge, Calif., in 1994.

“It was awesome. It’s an amazing time for those kids, especially with the success they had to go all the World Series,” Cassel said. “I know it didn’t exactly end the way they wanted it too, but they’ll never forget it for the rest of their lives. And what an accomplishment. I remember it like it was yesterday. Some of my fondest childhood memories are from Little League.”

Cassel said he made some life-long friends from that ’94 Little League team and that the group had a reunion a few years ago.

“Matt Fisher, who played shortstop, was in my wedding. We had a reunion awhile back. A lot of them went on to play in the minor leagues and stuff like that. We played high school baseball against each other. It’s fun to still follow them,” Cassel said.
