This is something you don’t hear very often. A free home! There is a catch to this free home. It has to be moved from its current location. See the Franklin’s Charge Facebook post below.
“Franklin’s Charge is offering this historic home free to someone who would like to take on the task and expense of moving this historic home. The house is located on core battlefield land next to the Carter House.
Anyone interested in moving this house must already have own land for the relocation of this home. The estimated cost of this relocation project is $500,000 according to Mary Pearce with the Heritage Foundation. Interested parties should contact Stacey Watson at 615-595-0636.”
The home featured in the picture is the Franklin Flower shop located on Columbia Avenue. Franklin Flower shop will open a new location in Spring Hill. In addition to the Spring Hill location,Franklin Flower will be relocating their Franklin shop. No update on where that location will be at this time. Follow them on Facebook for the latest updates.
Organized in 2005, Franklin’s Charge is a 501(c)(3) Tennessee nonprofit corporation dedicated to preserving America’s threatened Civil War battlefields in Williamson County, Tennessee.
Franklin’s Charge brings together all preservation groups operating in Williamson County. Its membership consists of representatives of the African-American Heritage Society, the Battle of Franklin Trust, the Civil War Preservation Trust, the Franklin-Williamson County Chamber of Commerce, the Harpeth River Watershed Association, the Heritage Foundation of Franklin and Williamson County, the Land Trust for Tennessee, Inc., Save the Franklin Battlefield Association, the Tennessee Civil War Preservation Association, the Tennessee National Civil War Heritage Area, the Tennessee Preservation Trust, and the Williamson County Convention and Visitors Bureau.
