The Village Church Expands, Adds Second Service

The Village

The Village Church in the Nolensville/Lenox Village community, hosted at Sunset Middle School, is a new United Methodist church started this past January by Pastor Travis Garner. Their ultimate mission is to transform the world by making disciples of Jesus Christ, and they uphold this ideal by offering a church on a come as you are philosophy. They believe that everyone should feel like a part of their “village” where they can belong and grow to become what they were created to be.

the village churchAs a part of that mission and belief, they encourage their members to serve in their communities by doing what they can. One instance of this was Sunday, July 31st, where they asked their members to participate in a number of community service projects instead of attending a regular service. The church takes pride in being a part of the active community and offers encouragement to all their members to do the same as they live out their lives. Through this, they have transformed their local area to thinking about others instead of themselves.

For those who attend and those who are thinking about attending The Village Church in the Nolensville/Lenox Village area, now is a perfect time to start. Due to growth of the new church, located at 200 Sunset Trail, the church is officially moving from one service to two. Travis Garner, Lead Pastor of The Village, says “We are really excited about launching a second worship service on Sunday mornings at 9am and 11am. From the beginning, we’ve aimed to be a church who loves and serves our neighbors and where people who feel disconnected from church can find a home. We’re excited about adding another opportunity on Sunday mornings to invite our neighbors to join us and to expand the ways we serve the community.”

At both services this Sunday, The Village Church will continue a back-to-school tradition of the Blessing of the Backpacks. They invite all educators, school staff, students, and their families to join them for two all-ages services on Sunday, August 7 at 9am and 11am.

Worship services last around an hour and include a mix of music, including everything from modern worship music to hymns, led by The Village’s worship band, some time for prayer, readings from Scripture, and an engaging message. While children are welcome to attend regular service, there are services specifically geared towards children 6 weeks to 5th grade happening at the same time.
