The Rambling Offers Dining Under the Stars in Franklin

The Rambling at Southall

Recently we were invited to the Rambling, a new space in Franklin called Southall. For those familiar with the Halfway Market, the awning covered dining area sits on the left hand side of the road at Carters Creek Pike just before the famous market.

Southall is a development which will consist of a garden, restaurant, village area with retail, inn, and spa that sits on over 200 acres. While still in the early stages, an event called the Rambling was created to introduce curious locals and guests to what’s coming to the area. As you enter the dining area, you were greeted by a 1940s milk truck turned craft beer and rose on tap along with firepits and tables set for four, six, and eight scattered around.

Franklin resident Chef Tyler Brown named one of Esquire Magazine’s “Four New Chefs to Watch,” comes to Southall from the Capitol Grille, which not only earned the coveted Forbes Four Star and AAA Four Diamond designations, but also was voted one of America’s best restaurants by Gourmet magazine, Food Network and the James Beard House. While at Capitol Grille, Brown helmed Double H and Glen Leven Farms — making the Capitol Grille the only restaurant in Nashville to own and operate an agriculture and livestock operation for the sole purpose of having the most responsibly sourced, freshest and highest-quality ingredients. And now Brown will be doing the same thing at Southall.

During our meal at The Rambling, each dish was served to the table family style. The menu consisted of shrimp, pork, roasted beets, butternut squash, farro verde, rolls, salad, and fresh strawberries and cream. All of the items were prepared at the custom outdoor kitchen created for the event. It is rare you attend an event where each item is devoured. We recommend you grab one of the few remaining spots left on the calendar.

The event has been extended until November 3. Find your tickets here. The dinner takes place outside under minimal covering, so be prepared for cooler weather. Also, you will be parking in a field so wear appropriate shoes and enjoy.  We can’t wait to see the future of Southall aka Franklin’s version of Blackberry Farms.
