The Rambling Invites Guests to Experience Franklin’s Latest Chef-Driven Concept

The Ramblings Southall

The Rambling, an outdoor dining experience is back for another season at the newest development in Franklin – The Farm at Southall. It is on land where Chef Tyler Brown and his team of farmers toil daily that The Rambling, a series of occasional family-style dinner events, begins to take shape.

This working farm in Franklin, Tennessee, is a place where people who care deeply about food execute Mother Nature’s vision with a combination of traditional methods and advanced technology. It’s also the culmination of a long journey for Brown, who has for years sought a deeper understanding of his ingredients while seeking to bring people together with his cuisine.

Prior to launching The Farm at Southall and The Rambling, Brown put Nashville on the localvore map while he was executive chef at the renowned Capitol Grille—creating the Garden at Glen Leven, a produce operation, and Double H Farms, which raised heritage red poll cattle.

The Rambling, launching for the season on Friday, April 26, offers a seasonal multi-course feast with ingredients grown just steps away; but more importantly, it allows guests to explore a bit of Franklin’s rich agricultural legacy, enjoying artisan dishes under the stars while honoring the circle of life.

“This is my way of paying tribute to things that connect us all,” said Brown, who has earned several James Beard Award nominations and numerous other accolades throughout his career. “I have always believed that the land and the food we share can help us to forge stronger bonds, to create a greater sense of community.”

Those beliefs are what led Brown to begin farming in the first place. While his initial pursuits covered the process of cooking and the art of cuisine, he wanted to see the prelude, the rest of the circle. Using hydroponics, state-of-the-art greenhouses, and other innovations, he and his team are creating the sustainable farm of the future.

In a setting surrounded by rolling hills, next to a courtyard landscaped with edible herbs and plants, The Rambling offers open fires for cooking and communing. Yard games to play and gardens to explore as guests await the feast. And communal tables, of course, because a meal like this is a shared experience, meant to build community every bit as much as it’s meant to nourish.

The Rambling may be new, but its traditions are as old as they come.
