The Joy of Food: The Good Cup

The Good Cup

by Serenity Joy Miller

On Tuesday after work, I drove up to The Good Cup in the Grassland community of Franklin. In the past, I visited the eclectic café for a private event, but this was my first trip to check out the shop itself.

The best word to describe The Good Cup coffee shop is “charming.” Everything about the eatery, from the warm lighting and pleasant music to the comfortable chairs and lovely artwork adorning the walls, invites customers to relax, hang out, and enjoy their coffee, food, reading materials, and pleasant conversations just a little bit longer in the cozy atmosphere. The Good Cup

Unfortunately, I did not have much time to linger, as I arrived at The Good Cup just a half hour before closing. The baristas were welcoming and friendly, so I ordered a Chocolate Chip Espresso Muffin and an Iced Mocha coffee. The housemade muffin was moist, light, and delicious, and the cold coffee was perfectly sweet and refreshing. What a delightful treat! Even though they were getting ready to close, the staff did not rush the customers out the door. The Good Cup

The kitchen closes an hour before the shop does each day, so I was unable to order a fresh sandwich, salad, or cup of soup; but I look forward to trying a breakfast or lunch entrée next time. Check out their menu online here. They also sell a variety of local products from clothing, jewelry, and mugs to baked goods, jams, and cakes in the shop.

The Good Cup is located at 2181 Hillsboro Road in the Grassland shopping center with Garden Delights, The Garrett Company Realtors, The Perfect Setting, and Nellie Jo Art Studio. The Good Cup is open Monday through Friday from 6 AM – 6 PM and Saturday from 7 AM – 5 PM.
