The Importance of Rest

Time flies when our days are full of family, work, recreation, exercise, and then the unexpected. We continually search for that perfect balance and rarely seem to achieve it. The most forgotten aspect of the “balance” is rest.

Most of us wait until we completely crash before realizing we need rest. It is vital that rest is incorporated into our daily lives. Even just 15-20 minutes a day of quiet does wonders. It is not only important that our bodies rest, but that our minds do, too. We live in the era where technology is right at our fingertips and most of us rarely are without our gadgets.

Every night, I make sure my cell phone is charging, on silent and down stairs. I do not take it with me up to my bedroom because I know I will never shut down. Sometimes, it is a fight to turn off the mind after a day full of stimulation.

Fatigue catches up quickly and all of a sudden, we can find ourselves not functioning to full capacity. Take time to recharge your batteries, even if it’s just a few minutes every day. Your body and your mind will thank you.
