The countdown is on for the Royal wedding of England’s Prince Harry and American actress Megan Markle. Join friends at AMC Thoroughbred 20 in Franklin for a watch party starting at 10 am Saturday, May 19. Find more information here.
1Wedding Date
The couple will be married in Windsor at St. George’s Chapel with the ceremony taking place at noon on Saturday, May 19. Royal weddings are typically held on a weekday but the couple chose to break tradition and have it held on a weekend.
2No Bridesmaids
Prince William and Kate’s children, Prince George and Princess Charlotte will take part in the wedding and the Palace has confirmed that Prince Louis will not be in attendance. No adults will be bridesmaids just children as the Palace released the official listing here.
3Public Invited
Prince Harry and Ms. Meghan Markle have said they wanted their wedding day to be shaped to allow members of the public to feel part of the celebrations. As previously announced, the couple asked Lord Lieutenants to invite 1,200 people to join the celebrations, including young people who have shown strong leadership, and those who have served their communities.
4Invitations
The invitations were produced by Barnard & Westwood. The invitation is die-stamped in gold and then burnished with the text on the invitation which is also die-stamped. Edges of the invitation are bevelled then gilded. Interesting fact- they are using English paper with American ink.
5The Dress
There have been no photos or information released about Markle’s dress but it is rumored a Ralph & Russo designed dress who also designed her engagement dress.
6Flowers
Two wedding bouquets will be made for Markle. A tradition that began with the Queen when she married and her bouquet went missing. White garden roses, a favorite of Princess Diana’s will be a featured along with Markle’s favorite peonies.
7Carriage Ride
There will be no balcony kiss as with Prince William and Kate but the couple will take a carriage ride after the ceremony through the streets of Windsor. Depending on the weather, they will ride in the open Ascot Landau carriage or the enclosed Scottish State Coach.
8Wedding Cake
Claire Ptak, an American pastry chef who is based in London has been chosen to create a lemon elderflower wedding cake for Prince Harry and Ms. Meghan Markle. For locals, you can try the flavor at Triple Crown Bakery in Franklin who will have Royal treats on hand all weekend.
9Cellphones are a No-No
Not sure what to do at a royal wedding? All wedding guests have been provided with a seven-page dossier of do’s and dont’s for the big day. With the biggest being – no photos- and all mobile phones will be confiscated before the reception. Guests have also been asked to bring government identification – passports are preferred.
10No Gifts Please
The couple has asked for no wedding gifts but instead, they’ve selected seven different charities. The couple has chosen charities which represent a range of issues that they are passionate about, including sport for social change, women’s empowerment, conservation, the environment, homelessness, HIV and the Armed Forces. Many of these are small charities. See the complete list here.
