Texans Blow Out Titans 30-16 in Mettenberger’s Debut

With a much needed bye week on the horizon, the Tennessee Titans (2-6) hosted division rival Houston Texans (4-4) at LP Field with a couple changes, most noted was the addition of rookie quarterback Zach Mettenberger into the starting lineup.

With the Jake Locker experiment seemingly on life support, the Titans were hoping a fresh set of eyes would be a positive momentum shift. But once again, the Titans were ran out of their own building in a 30-16 loss and sinking Tennessee to a 2-6 record, with a lot to think about over the bye week break.

Mettenberger ended the game going 27-for-41 yards, racking up 299 yards with 2 touchdowns and one interception. The offensive line at times wasn’t able to keep him on his feet and he was brought to the ground by J.J. Watt and lost a fumble. The defense again was awful, and the Titans allowed the Texans to score five straight times before Mettenberger found Delanie Walker for a 6-yard touchdown in the third quarter.

It’s a shame that the bye week won’t be so relaxing as it’ll be busier than ever. The Titans are a mess, from every corner of their game. Their next game will be November 9 on the road in Baltimore and the next home game at LP Field will be November 17 against the Pittsburgh Steelers on ESPN.
