Join tennis enthusiasts for the 2013 “Serve to Build” Tennis Tournament on Saturday, June 29th at Crockett Park. This benefit tournament is only $65 per person, doubles-round-robin format with plenty of play and camaraderie.
“October 19, 2011 is the day that the war literally ripped through my home. It was the day that my husband received the call that his son, my stepson, Andrew Wilson, stepped on an IED resulting in the amputation of both of his legs. Brentwood came out in droves to welcome Andrew, a 2007 Brentwood Academy Graduate, home for Christmas in December of that year. Thousands of people were there! I specifically remember riding down Concord Road and seeing a group of ladies in tennis skirts and rain boots,” said Kim Wilson. “I didn’t recognize them but I remember thinking… My people, my kind, my tennis peeps are here! The support of the community that particular day was a key part in this family’s healing.”
This tournament is to benefit Homes For Our Troops, a nonprofit organization that builds homes for injured veterans at no cost. Homes For Our Troops is building a specially adapted home for local veterans Andrew Wilson and Ben Maenza and all proceeds from the event go toward the home. You can sign up or simply donate online. Sponsors are also welcome, call Kim Wilson at (615) 969-8406 for more information or email [email protected].
