The award-winning Franklin Band received a proclamation last week from the Tennessee General Assembly, recognizing the band’s successful 2018 marching season. The proclamation was sponsored by Tennessee Senate Majority Leader Jack Johnson, Representative Glen Casada of the 63rd House District, Representative Sam Whitson of the 65th House District, and Representative Brandon Ogles of the 61st House District.

Representative Ogles, a proud graduate of Franklin High School, presented the proclamation, assisted by his wife, Grace. The proclamation states in part that “the young men and women of The Franklin Band performed in sterling fashion throughout their season” and “as a result of its continued dedication to the highest standards of musical and marching performance, The Franklin Band serves as the golden standard in the State of Tennessee, and each one of these young women and men should be recognized for their commitment and hard work.”

The Franklin Band was named Tennessee State Marching Band Champion and Grand Champion at the 56th Annual Contest of Champions at MTSU in October. In November, the band advanced to semi-finals at the Bands of America Grand Nationals Championship and finished 17th in the nation with their performance.
