Tennessee Classical Academy Students Place in National Latin Exam

The Tennessee Classical Academy (TCA) of Franklin competed against more than 154,000 students in 50 states and 15 countries when taking the National Latin Exam co-sponsored by the American Classical League and the National Junior Classical League. Nine students from TCA placed after taking the exam which ranged in skill level from “Intro to Latin” to “Latin VI.”

TCA trains students beginning in the primary grades and continues through high school. Latin helps with English vocabulary, grammar, logical thinking, and test taking. “I’m very proud of our students’ efforts and the recognition they have received,” said TCA upper school principal and Latin teacher Ben Crist. “It’s really a testament to the skills developed in the Latin program at TCA, and shows they have an understanding of the language that’s deep and inquisitive.”
