Holiday Adoption Campaign Aims to Find Animals New Home By End of Year

Williamson County Animal Center, Metro Animal Care and Control and Nashville Humane Association have joined forces to clear the shelters for the holidays.

This is the first time the three shelters have combined efforts. The “Take us Home for the Holidays” adoption campaign aims to have every animal in the shelters adopted into a new home by Dec. 31.

All shelters will feature adoption specials during the month of December. Potential adopters will still need to meet with an adoption counselor to find the best match for their family.

“From the health benefits of pet ownership to the advantages of adopting, there are many reasons why your local shelter is the best choice for finding a new pet,” said Laura Chavarria, director of Williamson County Animal Center (WCAC).

During December, all pet adoption fees are $25 at WCAC, and adoption fees for all senior pets at the shelter (6 years or older) are sponsored by Darrell Waltrip Subaru of Franklin.

“The holiday season is a time for family and togetherness – what better way to celebrate than by extending your family to include a homeless animal,” said Rebecca Morris, spokesperson for Metro Animal Care and Control. “If you’re unable to adopt for yourself, you can still help homeless animals by encouraging your friends to consider adoption.”

Shelter staff and volunteers came together earlier this month to showcase just how positive each shelter is and to show how much happiness animals add to our lives.

“The holidays are not as much about opening presents as opening our hearts. What better way to open your heart than by adopting a homeless animal,” said Joy Beach, executive director of the Nashville Humane Association.
