Survey Says?

Eight out of 10 households responding in the recent Franklin Tomorrow and Williamson County Association of Realtors survey say that the city of Franklin is headed in the right direction. September’s survey was funded through a grant from the National Association of Realtors in a further effort to explore the results of the 2011 Franklin Tomorrow visioning process and to gather data on home ownership. MWR and American Strategies Inc. contacted approximately 400 residents in this quest.

Joe Goode of American Strategies said the survey is positive. “In a city with no glaring deficiencies, residents place their highest priorities for local government on issues and goals that have the most immediate impact on their personal livelihood and daily lives.” Jobs, taxes, fees and infrastructure are all areas where citizens are concerned and Franklin is on top of those issues.

Only a third of those polled would be willing to pay more for improved infrastructure and transportation and then the preferred method would be through a higher auto registration fee. Only about 20 percent believed that property taxes in the area were too high and a large majority 43 percent felt that housing costs are a bit steep. As for measured growth, the survey participants fell that residential and business expansion is relatively equal and on the right track.
