Aug 4 2026 – A former Sunset Middle student earned high honors at the National Speech and Debate Association (NSDA) Middle School National Tournament in June.
Aditi Venmani, who will start at Nolensville High as a freshman this school year, advanced to the finals in Original Oratory and ultimately placed third.
“Attending Nationals was an incredible opportunity,” said Aditi. “Placing in the top six among so many talented competitors from across the nation was both humbling and encouraging. It gave me the confidence to know that the hard work I’ve invested in speech and debate is paying off and reassured me that I’m on the right path. As I begin high school, I’m excited to continue challenging myself, learn from talented competitors and represent my school as I continue my speech and debate journey.”
Aditi’s speech, Missing Pieces, Not Missing Power, focused on hidden disabilities among school-aged children and highlighted the everyday challenges they face while sharing her own personal experiences.
In addition to her third-place finish, Aditi also advanced to the Octafinals in the Declamation category.
