Sunset Elementary School students and faculty are excited to invite you to this year’s Hour of Code event. The Hour of Code is a global movement reaching tens of millions of students in 180+ countries and is an opportunity for every student to try computer science for one hour.

This will be the first year that Sunset Elementary will be participating, and our students, staff, and faculty have been preparing for over a month to ensure a first-class experience. To ensure that 100 percent of our students will have the opportunity to participate, we will be implementing an innovative approach: Pair Programming. All of our classes will buddy-up (K/3rd, 1st/4th, 2nd/5th), which means older and younger students will be working together to solve problems, complete a coding tutorial, and help each other learn what computer science is all about.

This approach is unique, exciting, and adds to the community-building design that Sunset Elementary is known for. Pair Programming enables students to help teach and guide each other, encourages creativity and problem-solving, and bonds buddies together as they work toward a common goal. The Sunset family is very enthusiastic about this year’s Hour of Code event, and we’d love for you to come and join us during one of our sessions to see what the excitement is all about.

Hour os Code takes place on December 8th from 12:45-1:45 at Sunset Elementary located at 100 Sunset Trail,Brentwood.
