Summit running back Tai Carter isn’t known for throwing scores, but on Friday, he proved he can do it.
The versatile Spartan threw a pair of scores, but it wasn’t good enough as Summit fell 21-20 to Spring Hill.
Summit’s Ethan Cash scored on a one-yard run in the first quarter for the game’s first points, and the 7-0 score held at half.
Thirteen seconds into the second half, Carter threw a 40-yard score to John Casey.
Carter later threw another halfback option for a score, this one, to Nick Johnson with 8:59 left in the quarter.
But the Spartans missed the ensuing point-after, and lost their second-straight season opener to Spring Hill.
Summit travels to local rival Independence next week.
