After a win at LaVergne (1-6, 1-3) on Friday, the Summit Spartans (4-2, 2-1) are on the verge of the winningest season in school history.

The Spartans’ breezed to a 35-14 win over the Wolverines and are now tied with the school record for wins set last season.

Running back Tai Carter was the driving force behind a very effective rushing attack for Summit. He rushed 22 times for 125 yards and three touchdowns and also completed the Spartans’ only pass attempt of the night, an 11-yarder to Tommy Smith.

Dalton Fisher added 12 carries for 79 yards and Tyler Palmer had 65 yards on 12 rushes.

The Spartans also did an excellent job of not getting in their own way. They committed just two penalties in the game for a combined 20 yards and didn’t turn the ball over.

Summit will go for a new school wins record next week against Franklin County (3-3, 2-1). The Rebels, who are tied with Summit and Shelbyville for third in Region 5-5A at 2-1, beat Columbia 26-7 on Friday, giving them back-to-back region wins.
