The Summit Spartans wasted no time showing the momentum gained from their offensive outburst in Week 3 carried into Week 4.

A week after scoring the most points in Williamson County Schools history in a 71-34 win over Shelbyville, the Spartans (3-1) scored 44 in the first half to beat the Lebanon Blue Devils (0-3) 44-6 Friday.

The win was the third in a row for Summit, and it brings the Spartans within one victory of tying the school record of four set a year ago.

Just as they did against Shelbyville with 534 yards and nine touchdowns, the Spartans dominated the game on the ground. They rushed for 329 yards on 35 carries and ran it in for six scores.

Leading the way for Summit was Dalton Fisher with 147 yards on just nine carries. He scored twice on runs of 65 and 34 yards.

Tai Carter followed up a 223-yard, four-score game against Shelbyville with 77 yards on 11 carries and three touchdowns. Tyler Palmer added 56 yards on five carries with a TD.

The Spartans were as equally dominant on defense Friday as they were offensively. Lebanon gained just 69 total yards and had two turnovers.

Summit’s best start in school history rides into the Border Battle next week at home against rival Independence (4-0). The defending state 5A champions have won 19 games in a row after beating Smyrna 21-7 in Week 4.

Last season, Indy clobbered the Spartans 49-12.
