Students Create Program to Help Dogs in Need

The Williamson County Animal Center, 106 Claude Yates Dr. in Franklin, TN recently announced that the Hillsboro Middle School ‘Destination Imagination’ team has formed the Fido Foundation to benefit the animal center.

The team, named the ‘Snazzy Pancakes,’ created the Fido Foundation as part of their participation in the Brand-Aid Service Learning Experience challenge of the Destination Imagination program.

According to www.tennesseedi.org, “Destination Imagination is a non-profit, volunteer-led, cause-driven organization. The program is designed to inspire and equip students to become the next generation of innovators and leaders.”

The Snazzy Pancake team members are: Jacob Solan, Joshua Brandt and Ryley Menges from Hillsboro Middle, Keilah Anderson from Christ Presbyterian Academy, and Josh Austin from Franklin Classical School.

The team created a website for donations called www.helpadogtoday.com, distributed door hangers in neighborhoods, and is now using social media to spread the word.

The Fido Foundation’s goal is to raise $1,700 to subsidize adoption fees at the shelter and provide enrichment items for dogs in the shelter’s care. To make a donation through the Fido Foundation, go to www.helpadogtoday.com.
