Things just didn’t go as planned Friday for the Christ Presbyterian Academy Lions.

The game summed up the bad season CPA is suffering through so far. It was the second game in a row and the third time in four games it was shut out. The Lions have scored 42 points in five games, and 35 came in their only win of the season over White House Heritage.

As evidenced by the score, the Lions couldn’t find any offensive momentum against Ensworth. The Tigers held them to just 95 yards of total offense (55 rushing, 40 passing). James Deaton led the way with 14 rushes for 49 yards.

Ensworth got out to a fast start and the Lions never recovered. The Tigers led 36-0 at halftime and utilized a running clock in the second half to bury CPA.

CPA enters back into region play next Friday at home against Stratford, which sits in a tie with Goodpasture atop the standings at 2-0.

The Spartans (6-0) defeated Marshall County Friday.
