Step Back in Time at Battle of Triune Reenactment

On December 27, 1862, Confederate troops camped near Triune on their way to Murfreesboro.  Arriving in the early morning hours from Nashville, Federal troops engaged in a battle lasting for several hours – until the swell of Federal reinforcements traveling south on Nolensville Pike, overwhelmed the Confederates and hostilities ended around 2:00 pm.

This April 11 & 12, 2015 at Kings’ Chapel in Arrington, TN you can take a step back and time and watch the Battle of Triune be reenacted.  The gates open Saturday 10:00 am until 4:00 pm and Sunday 9:00 am until 2:00 pm.

Guests will walk through a civilian village and talk with reeanctors doing impressions of a doctor in a hospital; a telegraph operator; a school marm; a bath house and laundry; a mortuary with lessons on Victorian mourning customs; as well as demonstrations on cooking, candle making, calligraphy, spinning/weaving and even a saloon. No adult beverages, though, this is a family event.

Not far from the civilian camps will be the military.  While the soldiers are in camp, you can talk with them about reenacting and learn about life from the soldiers viewpoint.  There will be an artillery demonstration with a battle reenactment at 1:00 pm each day.

On Sunday, if you arrive by 10 am, you might find room in the little chapel where a Civil War era sermon will be preached by Rev. Alan Corry, the founder of Time Capsule Ministries.

There will be a shuttle available from the parking lot to the battlefield. There is a general admission of $6 per person for each day – or both days for $10.  Children 5 and under are free, but because of the close proximity of the artillery, the battle will be loud.

The spectator viewing area is a large field that slopes up for great viewing no matter were you are in the coral. Bring a blanket or lawn chair, but you will be on your feet when the first shots are fired.  Battle reenactments usually last about 30 minutes.

King’s Chapel is located at 4980 Meadowbrook Blvd, Arrington, TN. Located on Hwy 96 (approx 11 miles east of I-65 from Franklin or 14 miles west of I-24 in Murfreesboro).
