It was the perfect weather for the 74th annual Iroquois Steeplechase that took place  at Percy Warner Park.  What Steeplechase is really all about, is helping to support kids like Winston Hovis, child ambassador for Steeplechase 2015. Steeplechase benefits Monroe Carrell Jr. Children’s Hospital at Vanderbilt where  they help kids like Winston everyday.

Winston was diagnosed with type 1 diabetes in 2011 and is  under the care of Dr. Bill Russell who is also one of the honorary co-chairs for the 2015 Steeplechase. Winston  has become an advocate for children who have been newly diagnosed with diabetes,  and he is somewhat of a spokesperson for Eskind Diabetes Center.

Each year there is a stick horse race sponsored by Philips Toy Mart.  This year’s  children’s  stick horse race was dedicated to last year’s ambassador, Michael Stanley, who lost his battle to cancer in April 2015.

And it wouldn’t be Steeplechase without hats!  There were  hats of all sizes, shapes, and the creativity was amazing.  If you missed this year’s event, make your plans to attend next year.  Steeplechase takes place each year on the second weekend in May.

Here are the winners of the seven races at Steeplechase.
