Steel Curtain Torn Down by Titans D-Texans Next

Titans

They are off the radar. These Tennessee Titans are a .500 team at best. At least that’s what the so-called “professionals” started the season saying. I know, let’s all not start drinking the Code Blue Kool-Aid yet, but a little sip wouldn’t hurt, would it?  I mean the Titans did go to Pittsburgh and did beat the almighty Steelers, 16-9,  in their own backyard. So a little sip won’t hurt.

In all seriousness, there were some reasons for hope, and there were some reasons for cautiousness. The 3 headed running monster of CJ2K, Greene, and Battle was impressive. The loss of Greene (out for 3-4 weeks with knee injury) in the second quarter didn’t seem to slow it down. Locker was 11-20 with a 5.2 yd. per completion average (yawn). Washington and Williams looked good. Britt was pretty much non-existent, however, TE Delanie Walker more than stepped up in Britt’s Houdini act. The offensive line was much improved giving up only 1 sack and allowing the RBs to gain 112 on the ground.

The defense played superbly! The Gray and Gregg Show debuted with 5 sacks, 1 interception, and 1 fumble recovery. They also held the Steelers RBs to 32 yards. Special Teams: Dear Reynaud, please look down before kneeling. Overall I would give this performance a B+ rating.

Now the real test, we’re heading back to where it all started: Houston, Texas. The odds on favorite to win the divison, and by many to go to the Super Bowl, are the Texans. The Texans had a late night Monday night and pulled out a squeaker against the Chargers. The Titans will need to continue with their run game, expect a lot of CJ2K and Jackie Battle. The Gray and Gregg Show will have to have to be an even better performance than the Steelers game if the Titans are going to avoid what has been a blowout game on their schedule the last 2 seasons. The Titans play Houston this Sunday at noon.
